If you've been following video game soundtracks for the past decade, you're likely familiar with composer Darren Korbs brilliant work on the indie titles: Bastion, Transistor and Pyre. These three games have garnered numerous awards and nominations: Best Independent Game, Best Downloadable Game, Best Visual Arts, Best Original Game, Best Original Score and Best Song In-Game. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with these games—especially Transistor, which we nominated for Original Game Score of the Year in 2014—each offers a different take on gameplay, esthetics and music; while maintaining that iconic isometric camera view.
To celebrate the 10th-Anniversary of SUPERGIANT Games, we're being treated to a Standard and Limited Vinyl release vinyl featuring song selections from these well-received titles. There was also a signed version available but has since sold-out(sorry collectors). If you're a fan of these great games and are interested in picking up this 10th Anniversary vinyl, both the Songs of SUPERGIANT Games (Special Edition) and Songs of SUPERGIANT Games (Standard Edition) are available at blackscreenrecords.com and the supergiantgamesstore, while supplies last. The vinyl also includes tracks to SUPERGIANT Games' upcoming title called Hades, which has been in early access since 2018 and has a current release date at the end of 2020.
Make sure to check out The Making of Song of SUPERGIANT Games 10th Anniversary Orchestral Collection. It's a well made video and offers some insight and commentary on the original composition as well as the orchestral arrangement process, done by another well known video game composer: Austin Wintory(Journey, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Abzu).
