SONIC BOOM: Fire & Ice
SONIC BOOM: FIRE & ICE was released for the Nintendo 3DS in September of 2016. It's one part of a spin-off franchise, that also includes Rise of Lyric, Shattered Crystal and a TV series. The game was developed by Sanzaru Games(Secret Agent Clank, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time), published by SEGA and the soundtrack composed by Richard Jacques(Mass Effect, Sonic Generations, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed).
This project wasn't that bad at all. After extracting the files from the ISO, I moved the individual raw(fsb) files from Music.fsb and exported them as .wav files using the foobar200 program. After that, I began the process of editing the music tracks one-by-one. Most of the non-cutscene tracks were in Mono 24K, so I converted them to Stereo, looped them twice—except the cut-scenes—faded out the track and added silence. Most of the tracks didn't require amplification or gain but you'll notice the cutscene tracks have a much clearer sound than the in-game tracks. I'm sure that has something to do with limitations of the 3DS and internal memory but I did give those tracks a quick clean up as well to try and match the quality of the cutscene tracks.
The only track the seems to be missing is for the Intro CG Cutscene. It could be in within the movie files, in which case would have sound effects attached. So, that is not included in this soundtrack. The music files all had titles, so identification was straightforward and I the only titles I changed from the original file names were the Cutscene tracks; I labeled them "Cutscene 01 - Cutscene 10" instead of "IGC01_Music_0708" - "IGC10_Music_0709B". I know what some of you may be thinking, why not give them titles? Well, half of the cutscene music is played more than once throughout the game and I'm personally not a fan of having too much text in a title. So, I figured Cutscene 01 - 10 is the way to go with this one. Every track is properly ordered the way you hear them in-game and I placed the Stinger cues(fanfares) at the end of the soundtrack, following the music, as we always tend to do with our uploads.
The SONIC BOOM: FIRE & ICE Soundtrack is uploaded in both FLAC and MP3. Enjoy!
